Dallas Bar Hispanic Association Scholarship
The Dallas Hispanic Bar Association Scholarship Foundation will award law school scholarships to students enrolled in Texas law schools during 2008-2009 school year. The scholarships will be awarded to students who have high academic performance and demonstrate leadership. Applications are due no later than August 22, 2008. Applications must be returned by email, fax, or regular mail and can be obtained in Student Services.
Writing Contest
The New York State Bar Association Special Committee on Animals and the Law (the "Committee") is sponsoring a student writing competition. The winner will receive $500 and the opportunity to publish his or her paper (subject to editorial approval). The Committee would greatly appreciate you sharing the attached announcement and rules with your student body. Click here for more information.
2008 National Security Law Writing Competition
The American Bar Association Standing Committee on Law and National Security announces the 2008 National Security Law Student Writing Competition. The topic is New Perspectives for a New Threat: student analysis of a timely issue at the intersection of law and national security. The winning essay will be published in the National Security Law Report and the winner will receive free registration to the 18th Annual Review of the Field of National Security Law Conference in Washington, D.C., Nov. 6-7, 2008, as well as reimbursement up to $500 for travel, housing, and per diem.

Howard C. Schwab Memorial Essay Contest
The ABA Section of Family Law is pleased to present the Howard C. Schwab Memorial Essay Contest. This contest is held annually to encourage interest in the field of family law. Not only does the contest encourage innovative thought in family law, but it also provides an opportunity for recognition and publication in the scholarly journal Family Law Quarterly. It is that time of year when many of you are beginning to ask questions about law school scholarships. Financial Aid
The law school branch of the Office of Financial Aid is now located down the hall with Admissions. Financial aid officer, Doug Akins, is happy to answer your questions; walk-ins, appointments, or email inquires are all welcome.
